What is XAUUSD and why gold?

XAUUSD is the price of gold in dollars. "XAU" means gold (from the Latin aurum) and "USD" is the US dollar. So XAUUSD shows how many US dollars one ounce of gold (about 31 grams) costs. If you see 4,150, one ounce of gold costs 4,150 USD.

Gold is traded by millions of people and large institutions worldwide. Traders like it for three reasons:

What is a trading signal?

Imagine you have an experienced friend who watches the market all day. When he spots a good opportunity, he texts you: "Buy gold at 4,150; if it drops to 4,130 close it (so you don't lose much); if it rises to 4,190 take profit." That is a trading signal โ€” a concrete plan of what to do.

A signal is not just "buy gold". Such a "signal" is worthless because you don't know when to enter, when to exit, or how much you risk. A real signal is a full plan.

The 5 parts every signal must have

Remember these 5 things

Without them a signal is just a guess.

  1. Direction (BUY or SELL) โ€” whether you buy (expecting price to rise) or sell (expecting it to fall). Yes, you can profit from gold falling too โ€” that's called "shorting".
  2. Entry โ€” the exact price you open the trade at. Not "somewhere around 4150", a specific number.
  3. Stop Loss (SL) โ€” the price where you admit you were wrong and close automatically. This is your seatbelt: it limits how much you can lose on one trade.
  4. Take Profit (TP) โ€” the price where you lock in profit. Good signals have 3 TP levels (TP1, TP2, TP3) so you can take profit in parts.
  5. Reasoning and confidence โ€” why the signal appeared (e.g. "price swept liquidity") and how reliable it is (e.g. 85%).

Example: what a real signal looks like

XAUUSD signal

๐ŸŸข BUY ยท LOKZ Low ยท 85% confidence
Entry: 4,150.00
Stop Loss: 4,138.00 (risk ~12 USD)
TP1: 4,162.00 ยท TP2: 4,174.00 ยท TP3: 4,186.00
R:R: 1 : 3

In plain words: you buy gold at 4,150. If price falls to 4,138, the trade closes with a small loss (the seatbelt worked). If it rises, you take profit in three stages. "R:R 1:3" means you risk 1 to make 3 โ€” an excellent ratio.

How to use a signal step by step

  1. Open your trading platform (e.g. MetaTrader 4/5 with your broker) and find XAUUSD.
  2. Calculate your position size based on your risk (see the risk management article). Never just put "whatever".
  3. Enter the trade with the same entry, SL and TP as in the signal.
  4. Leave the trade alone โ€” don't interfere emotionally. Let SL and TP do their job.
  5. Take profit in parts โ€” at TP1 you can close part of the position and move SL to your entry (breakeven), making the rest risk-free.
Beginner tip: for the first 1โ€“2 weeks trade on a DEMO account (fake money). You'll learn to enter trades with zero risk.

How to tell a good signal from a scam

The internet is full of "gurus" promising 90% profit. Here's how to spot a serious source:

Red flag: if someone guarantees profit, asks for money "to invest" for you, or shows no track record โ€” it's almost always a scam.

Automated vs manual signals

Manual signals come from a person. The problem โ€” a person gets tired, sleeps, reacts emotionally and sometimes misses opportunities.

Automated signals are generated by an algorithm (a bot) that watches the market 24/7 and applies the same rules every time โ€” no emotion, no fatigue. GoldenEagle uses the ICT/SMC methodology, finds setups automatically and sends them straight to your app with a push notification. All you do is execute.

What is XAUUSD?

XAUUSD is the price of gold expressed in US dollars. XAU is the symbol for gold (from the Latin aurum), USD is the US dollar. A price of 4150 means one ounce of gold costs 4150 USD.

Do signals guarantee profit?

No. No signal guarantees profit โ€” trading always involves risk. Good signals only improve the odds and give you a clear plan (entry, SL, TP), but some trades will always lose. That is normal.

What do I need to use signals?

You need a broker account with an MT4/MT5 platform (or any platform where you can trade XAUUSD) and a signal source. When you see a signal, you simply enter the same entry, SL and TP levels on your platform.

What are entry, SL and TP?

Entry is the price you open the trade at. SL (Stop Loss) is the price where a losing trade is closed automatically to protect your capital. TP (Take Profit) is the price where you lock in profit.

How many signals per day?

It depends on the strategy. Quality first: 1โ€“2 strong signals a day beat 20 random ones. GoldenEagle averages about 10 signals per month.
